Expressed with humour and sensitivity

“As Director of CanRehab Training, I was introduced to Dearbhaile when she attended a CanRehab Course to train as a cancer and exercise specialist instructor. During this time, she shared with the students and tutors her personal cancer journey and her desire to help those in a similar situation by delivering personalised exercise programmes.  In this lovely book, Dearbhaile describes the realities and anxieties of embarking upon an exercise programme post-cancer diagnosis. This is expressed with humour and sensitivity and leaves the reader with a very positive message about the benefits of exercise after a cancer diagnosis.

I wish Dearbhaile continued success in inspiring other cancer thrivers to become and remain active and deliver the message that exercise is medicine!”

A brilliant Representation of the Rollercoaster

“I resonated with so many of the poems. The book is a brilliant representation of the rollercoaster that is breast cancer.”

Reading it from a male perspective

“This book is a great insight into the world of breast cancer and what women and men have to go through. It is a ‘must read’ for anyone whose family member is going through this journey. Reading it from a male perspective you ask yourself about male breast cancer, testicular and prostate cancer and if you should get checked.
It’s a fun book at times (though the subject matter isn’t), but I love how the poems and illustrations almost steam roll over the bumps on the road.
It’s very optimistic and upbeat, which is what we all want in a dire situation.”

Medically informative and humorous

“An extraordinarily original take on a breast cancer self-help book. Hugely practical advice mixed with poetry, heart wrenching in one breath, and laugh out loud in the next. Not many books can be described as medically informative and humorous! It’s wonderful.”

Brave, honest, insightful, informative, positive and humorous

“Brave, honest, insightful, informative, positive and humorous description of her cancer treatment and recovery. Congratulations Dearbhaile on donating all profits of book sales to The Marie Keating Foundation and Purple House. I know this book will help others to understand and have courage to go forward and be positive while undertaking their treatment journey too. It will also resonate with others who too have completed the same journey. Well done!”
